  • Monday 1 February 2021 A lovely Parent Testimonial... My little girl has been going to Hednesford nursery since Sept 2020. She absolutely loves it. Considering the current ways at the moment, we as parents couldn't of asked for anymore from the staff especially Mrs Street. They all work so hard to keep everything as it should, to the rules and with social distancing in place. They keep us up to date with everything my daughter does on a daily basis and the difference in her at home with soee h etc is fantastic to see. She enjoys every single session she attends and asks to go even on weekends. Kind and caring and exactly what we were looking for in teachers. Thanks you for all your hard work Hednesford Nursery.

  • Tuesday 3 November 2020 Squirrels Harvest week at Hednesford Nursery! We celebrated Harvest this week, developing us physically with sensory mark making, using paint to print vegetables, and manipulating playdough to create hedgehogs. Beetroot, parsnip, swede and leek were some of the new words we learned as we looked at a selection of harvest vegetables. We sang ‘Five little peas in a pea pod pressed’, and investigated real peas in their pods. “Look, they big, one, two, three, four”. Outside we had pumpkins in our mud kitchen, “It’s heavy, going to cook it”, but would it fit in the saucepan? “It’s too big”. And for snack we tried some new foods; plums, figs, sugar snaps and pumpkin seeds. “More, more”.
  • Friday 23 October 2020 Happy Harvest! This week in Rabbits, our main focus has been on Harvest Festival, we have made pinecone and cinnamon soup, explored the farm small world, complete with our very own duck pond! Our home corner had an Autumn vegetable hamper delivered, the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the vegetables with their senses. On the decking area, we have been practicing climbing safely and confidently on an array of equipment. We have even made pumpkin soup in the mud kitchen!
  • Friday 16 October 2020 Squirrels: One Little, Two Little, Three Little Pumpkins Pumpkins have been our huge focus this week. Did you know that pumpkins are not vegetables, they are actually fruit? We used small hammers to knock golf tee’s in to a pumpkin, helping to strengthen the muscles in our hands. Singing the song “One little, two little, three little pumpkins” encouraged us to recite some number names in sequence, and we were fascinated with the marks we made using mud and pens on the laminated pumpkin pictures. But best of all was making a pumpkin krispie cake, “It was nice and tasted of chocolate”.
  • Friday 16 October 2020 Rabbits: I'm a Little Pumpkin! We have had a very enjoyable week in Rabbits, we have been exploring Autumn with a focus on pumpkins – which the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about this week. Our rhyme of the week has been ‘I’m a little pumpkin’ and the children have really enjoyed the rhythmic pattern of this.
  • Tuesday 13 October 2020 Squirrels & the Frozen Dinosaur Eggs Using natural materials, this week in Squirrels class the children have been creating and enhancing dinosaur small worlds. Our knowledge and understanding of the world was tested as mysterious frozen dinosaur eggs appeared in a nest. “There’s babies in there, I need to get them out”, the following day, “They’re out, I got it”. Linking our learning with everyday events from home, we used toothbrushes and toothpaste to clean the dinosaur’s teeth “Me some, clean teeth, dirty, red off”. Do you clean your teeth at home? “Yes, at home”. Does Mummy help you? “No big boy, clean teeth at home”.

  • Tuesday 22 September 2020 We Discover Slug Eggs! Today as we tended our strawberry patch we made a curious discovery. A small patch of eggs were found and we didn’t know much about them. Mrs Street searched on the internet and we found out that they were slug eggs, with a little more investigation we found an adult slug “Look, it’s the Mummy”. We also found another creature, a woodlouse, which some of us were brave enough to touch.
